Haku snorted, and poked Suigetsu’s nose firmly with one slender index finger. “If your nose was more squished in, I think you’d be a Persian, with the attitude you have!” He laughed and brushed some of his own tangled hair out of his eyes, and then flopped back against the couch cushions. “We’re never going to get anything done at this rate, you know.” Brown eyes fixated on the little red numbers of the VCR’s digital clock. “It’s already noon, you know.” His kimono had that gritty, almost slightly damp feeling that fabric got when it had been worn for too long, but instead of bothering him like it usually did, he felt as though he couldn’t be bothered with it taking away from the moment. His body was in some sort of strange, relaxed limbo where all of his limbs felt light and floaty, and his muscles thrummed with an odd, zen-like energy. He felt better than he had in months.

“Maybe after we get lunch, we can go spar. I haven’t really done any practicing in a few weeks. If, you know, we ever get up and move around.” Which he was really fine with either option. Anything was fine right now if he could just be with Suigetsu.

Suigetsu smiled and stuck out his tongue. He was really confortable, and the mere thought of having to stand up, made him want to yawn.

“We’re never going to get anything done at this rate, you know.”

And then he wondered if Haku could read minds or something. Hopefully that wasn’t the case.

“You’re right…” He said with a subdued growl in his voice, turning his head towards the VCR to confirm Haku’s words. Why. Why is so late already. In one fluent motion, he went back to his feet. “Mh… sounds good; we can if you want so. I’m going to take a quick shower. Make sure you don’t fall asleep, okay?” He added teasingly when he noticed how relaxed Haku looked.

After less than ten minutes, he was back, smiling broadly at the perspective of the day ahead. How much time had passed since he had been with Haku like this? Suddenly, all those years of being apart were completely senseless.

“Ready to go?”

“Ichiraku’s, eh? Never heard of it, but it sounds good,” he commented lightly, once he was finished with the dishes. “And I like ramen”, he added, a smile playing on his lips.

Suigetsu circled the couch and dropped himself onto the cushions, horizontally; his head falling promptly on Haku’s lap. “A cooking show? Booooring,” he complained, scrunching his nose up and raising his hand to poke the boy’s nose. “Once we’re living together… cooking shows are going to be forbidden.” The words made something stir in his stomach.

Together.

He cleared his throat before keep babbling -because, yes, at some point he realized the words seemed to stumble with his teeth and his lips-. “Eh… Would you like to take a shower? Then we can go to your friend’s house, after all you slept here and… well… she doesn’t know, I guess she’s worried or something…” Suigetsu turned his head to the TV. Suddenly, the cooking show was very interesting. “We can go to Ichiraku’s after that, what do you say?”

He immediately began poking Suigetsu in the temple. He was honestly surprised he wasn’t bright red at the moment. He should be, logically, what with his lap being Suigetsu’s temporary pillow. Maybe he was just starting to get more used to it. “But if cooking shows are banned, how am I going to learn new recipes? How do you think I learned to cook in the first place?”

Haku felt the sudden urge to stretch, and laced his fingers together, palms outward, and lengthened and arched his back. A pair of vertebrae popped loudly, and he felt much better. “Actually, I’m okay. I don’t need to shower today. I do need to brush my hair before we go out, though, and a change of clothes would be really nice.” He noticed that his hand was moving of its own accord, and when he looked down he saw that it was because he’d begun stroking Suigetsu’s hair. He hesitated, and his hand wavered, then went back to its rhythmic motion. The familiar blush was back. “You know, you make a nice cat.” The next sentence came so close to tumbling out that he actually had to bite his lip to stop himself from saying that Suigetsu’s hair might even just be softer than a cat’s fur.

“M… That’s quite a problem, see, I think my clothes won’t suit you… and they’ll look a little bit too loose on you. But since we’re going to your friend’s place, you can change there.” Suigetsu restrained the smile that was curling his lips again. The image of Haku wearing his clothes was more pleasant than it should’ve been. He tried to focus on the TV, but got distracted by a delicate hand untangling his white hair. A sigh of comfort escaped his lips.

“You know, you make a nice cat.”

He glanced at him, eyebrows raised. “A nice cat? Really?” A light laugh filled his lungs and he couldn’t hold it back. Amused, he locked his eyes on Haku’s, raising one hand to tuck a silky lock of dark hair behind his ear. “I’ve never been compared with a cat before~ What kind of cat would I be? An spoiled one, that’s for sure~ Especially if I’m your cat.”

Suigetsu shook his head and clicked his tongue. “No way, princesses don’t wash dishes” And, without waiting his reply, he took the sponge from Haku’s hand and, smiling widely, pushed him aside. “You’ve done enough making breakfast for both of us. And you’re my guest, geez.” His heart was still beating too fast, and he could hear the slightest of the tremors shaking his voice.

“Hey, what have you done with your hair…” Reaching out, he ruffled his black, silky hair again, making sure to leave some long locks falling in front of the boy’s face as he tried his best to calm down. “There, there. Better, see? Now go watch some TV, your majesty; you can start washing dishes once we’re living together. But now, please, make yourself comfortable” he said with a mocking tone, winking at him.

He turned his face to the sink to focus on what he was doing. …Once we’re living together. The words made echo in his head. It was hard to believe. It felt like a dream. It felt like he was going to wake up by sudden.

But this time…

This time it is real, right, Haku?

“Oi, girl, I’m taking you out for lunch today. I’m still worried about how skinny you are. Somewhere you’d like to go…?”

Haku huffed, but a smile still managed to find its way through, and this time, he didn’t move to fix his hair. It was too easy to relinquish the sponge and move away. “Fine, fine…” He lightly shoved Suigetsu’s arm before he walked to the coffee table and grabbed the remote. He flicked through the channels a bit aimlessly, before settling on a cooking show that he wasn’t really paying attention to. His head was stuck in daydreams about sharing an apartment with Suigetsu, and his wild fantasies only had one bedroom.

Suigetsu’s voice snapped him out of his reverie so suddenly that he suddenly seemed to forget every eatery in Konoha. “Oh, um…” The ramen place maybe? “Maybe we could go to…” It would have to work, no other names were coming to the forefront of his mind. “Ichiraku’s?” He shrugged, and looked at Suigetsu through stray black locks. “If there’s something else you feel like having, then we can do that instead…”

Suigetsu thought it wasn’t possible to feel more pleasure. Of course, Haku proved him wrong.

Oh, yes. He was so wrong.

A loud moan escaped his parted lips as his head rolled back. It was such an intense feeling; growing way too fast in his lower stomach, rising and falling with each movement of Haku’s mouth. And, suddenly, slender fingers were moving back and forth, in a perfect, synchronized motion. Suigetsu couldn’t help but rock his hips forward, eyes shut tightly, and the boy’s name escaped his lips several times as he gasped for air.

His hands moved to Haku’s hair. Long, pale fingers were soon buried in the black locks. He had to use all his selfcontrol –the bit that he had left– to not exert too much pressure, to not keep moving his hips. Oh, but it was so difficult. Haku seemed to know exactly what to do –well, he always had known how to drive him crazy–, and he realized he wouldn’t be able to hold back for too long. “H-Haku… Oh my f– Ah!”

As he looked directly at him, he could hear his own heartbeat in his ears. It was so annoying. He wanted to turn it off. Damn it. But that, obviously, wasn’t possible, not when a pink blush lit Haku’s face in the most adorable way. His fingers tickled with the urge to caress his cheeks; to feel his warm skin under his touch.

And Haku probably was feeling the same because he reached out, pulling back almost immediately. But Suigetsu didn’t let him go on. He placed his hand over his, gently encircling his fingers around his thin wrist.

“Yeah, I’m here…” he repeated, slightly distracted by Haku’s pulse, steady and firm under his fingertips. Yes, they were there, together; and there was a single thought in his mind: he didn’t want to be away from him again. Suddenly everything was way too clear.

He licked his lips, shaking his head before talking. “Don’t talk in past time, Haku. It was a little too perfect? It is. It is, clear?” He smiled widely at him. “Oh, but, I’m warning you, I may grow fond of your hotcakes~” He leaned in to ruffle Haku’s hair, ghosting his fingers over his left cheek when he dropped his hand. His heart raced in a millisecond, and he knew Haku would look through his eyes if he stayed that close, and then he would know. He would know…

Wait. He would know what…? What? Oh. Oh, no.

Suigetsu stood up quickly, almost stumbling on his own feet. “Shit” He cursed internally, picking up his plate before walking to the sink. “So… Are you… When are you going to tell Shiobe?” And, for the first time, he was nervous enough to forget making fun of her name.

He closed his eyes momentarily as his hair was rumpled, and opened his left to peer at Suigetsu as a small laugh slipped between his lips. His breath caught when he felt Suigetsu’s fingers brush over his cheek. His immediate rationalization was just that Suigetsu had miscalculated and not pulled his hand far enough away. But there was something in the other boy’s expression that made him doubt that was the case.

Haku didn’t have much time to examine it, though. To be sure of what he saw in Suigetsu’s eyes. He combed his hair with his fingers as Suigetsu stood and rushed to the sink. He tried to push his heart down out of his throat so he could speak properly. “I-I guess I’ll tell her later tonight that we’re looking… and when we find something we like, I’ll let her know…” His heart jumped back up. Even though he had been serious before, his emotions were catching up to this decision. He was going to be moving in with Suigetsu. He was going to be moving in with Suigetsu.

He looked down at the wrist Suigetsu had taken, and traced slender fingertips over the delicate tendons and veins there. He’d felt his pulse thrumming against Suigetsu’s fingers just a moment ago. If he paused, and relaxed, he could still his warm hand encircling his wrist.

He took his dishes and moved to the sink. He slipped his dishes in with Suigetsu’s. Somehow, during all of that, he had actually managed to finish his food, despite how much he had played with it. He started the water, and grabbed a sponge from the small drawer next to the sink. “Here, I’ll take care of those.”
